Patricc moves to L.A.

Submitted by 3 on Wed, 03/11/2009 - 20:30

So my move to LA. For those that don't know, I have decided to move to
LA so i can work on growing my clothing line.

Friday 7:16 am
Wake up early to finish packing the last of the things in the cars.
We have 2 friends that are driving my car tandem. We were looking to
set out around 8 a.m. but ended up departing at 8:45 a.m. Now this is
my 3rd cross country trip. The first 2 I did solo, so Im stroked to
have someone sitting next to me for the 2,520 mile journey. Both cars
are loaded from top to bottom and back to front. The only windows i
can see out of is the driver and passenger ones. I start the drive
with Tess in the passenger seat. I have one dog in my lap as Tess
holds the other dog in her's. We have just left our beautiful home and
the comfort of FL to live our life in the land of opportunity.

After a few hours on the road (not even out of Florida yet), Tess
starts talking about how bored she is. LOL This is her first cross
country trip so she has NO idea what bored is yet.

Florida passes, then Alabama, then Mississippi, then Louisiana and
then we hit Texas. Now if you have never driven across Texas using
I-10, keep it that way. Texas is 878 miles across via I-10. We have
planned to stop in San Antonio for a day to help break up the drive.
We finally made it to San Antonio around 3 a.m.

Sunday 5:26 a.m.
My alarm goes off. I jump in the shower and we are on the road at 6
a.m. Now the second half of Texas is fuckin awful. Nothing but hills,
sticks and land. At one point I thought I was going to run out of gas
because there wasn't a petro station for probably 100 miles. Finally
we see an exit with a Cheveron, so we stop at it. I felt like this was
the gas station in the movie "No Country For Old Men". I was convinced
I was going to be shot and killed here and no one would be able to
find me. I used the restroom and put soap in my hand to wash my hands,
but they didn't have running water. The can of soda I bought still had
Santa Claus on it (remember it's the beginning of March). Well we made
it out alive, continue on the drive and eventually make it to New
Mexico. All of New Mexico is like western Texas without the hills. As
we approach the end of New Mexico shit hits the fan. With exactly one
mile left before we hit Arizona my car had a blow out. No worries
right???...., I have a spare tire. We just have to unpack the
overloaded trunk to get to it. We unload, jack up the car and attempt
to put the spare on. I say attempt because the spare didn't fit.
FUCKING GREAT!! Now this is a problem. We are in the middle of NO
MAN"S LAND on a Sunday evening. The closest city is about 160 miles.
Thank Jesus for Google and PDA's. (pda's are smartphones for those of
you that own jitterbugs) We found a little shop about 20 miles down
the road that was owned by a guy named Pedro. So I loaded up my flat
tire, left everyone including my two puppies on the side of the road
and went to see Pedro. He was nice enough to sell me a tire for $135.
So after about 1 1/2 hours we are back on the road. We continued
driving until we made it to our final destination around 5 a.m. It
feels good to make it. I can't wait to sign my lease and get my life
started again.
