Interview with Fool of Grace designer Anamarie

Mid December at a boutique sale at my school I discovered a headpiece accessory line that really impressed me. It impressed me because it caught my eye in a good way for once. I love clothing and I notice it every day, but I can honestly say that I never take notice to headwear accessories unless it’s something that is unbelievably awful…until I saw Anamarie’s line.

In March 2009, headpiece designer Anamarie Romo began Fool of Grace.

The 21 year old designer from Los Angeles had known since the age of

16 that she wanted to use her creative talent in her career choice. It was then, as a high school student, that she began to sew and make clothes to sell for a little extra change. And that was when Anamarie began to appreciate the construction and quality of clothing and accessories, something she lives by to this day. “If you’re going to sell something, make it as perfect as possible”, Anna Marie says. This is great to know when deciding on one of her beautiful headpieces that consist of a variety of flowers and feathers. “My philosophy is that every woman looks beautiful with flowers in her hair. Fashion is meant to make you feel beautiful. It’s only a layer of one’s beauty, but I love the fact that it’s the first” says the young designer.

Anamarie does admit that it’s not easy being an up and coming designer, “being on the hustle makes it hard to keep consistent and ahead of the game, but then again, that’s what I love about it” says Romo. Fool of grace was the top seller at the LATTC Winter Boutique Sale and as happy as that makes the young designer, it’s “when customers come back for more” that makes her most proud.

In my eyes, Fool of Grace is such an inexpensive way to dress up the most simple of outfits. With a wide variety of fashion-forward headpieces, it makes me look forward to the launch of the company’s website, www.FoolofGrace.com, which it set to launch in February 2010.

As far as the near future for Fool of Grace, her goal is to become more eco friendly in the production of her hand-made pieces.
